Food and consumer protection

Project code: MRI-LBV-08-MRI-LBV-2014
Contract period: 01.02.2014 - 31.12.2017
Purpose of research: Basic research
Keywords: nano technology, protein interaction

The high reactivity of nano materials can cause interactions between the nano material and surrounding media (e. g. food and incubation media for toxicology and microbiology). Thus, properties of the nanoparticles (in this project, silver nanoparticles) could be influenced relating to physical stability and particle size distribution. Therefore agglomeration, aggregation and sedimentation or dissolution could occur. Hence the influence of protein -as one of the essential ingredients in food and incubation media- on the behavior of silver nano particles of different functionalization will be investigated in this project.
