FuzzyFarmer pursued an overall concept to improve site-specific nitrogen fertilization. An expert system was developed to fuse information from a real-time sensor with soil maps, allowing flexible adaptation to dynamic environmental conditions. Optimal control techniques were used to develop methods for spread pattern optimization in centrifugal spreaders. The real-time data fusion and optimization of spatiotemporal offsets in the application system was implemented on a controller platform and verified in experiments. Within a web-based architecture, the parameter connection was simplified for the expert by a user interface with immediate feedback on the decisions. In combination with the automation of the data exchange between the application system and the web application, the fertilization management was thus simplified within a consistently digital, web-based process chain.
