Collaborative project: Alkalization as Efficient Slurry Treatment reduces Ammonia and Methane Emissions as well as Slurry storage capacities and enables P-Recycling. Subproject 3 (ASAP)
Project
Project code: 281B103216
Contract period: 09.08.2018
- 08.10.2021
Budget: 210,990 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: emissions
The basic idea of the project “Alkalization as Efficient Slurry Treatment reduces Ammonia and Methane Emissions as well as Slurry storage capacities and enables P-Recycling” was to develop a system that alkalizes slurry followed by ammonia stripping. The high pH stops methane formation. Treatment products are ammoniumsulfate as a liquid fertilizer, a N- and P- and solid reduced liquid and a separated solid component. The experimental reactor was designed, developed and operated by the University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg. SF-Soepenberg GmbH investigated the alkalization process in 500-1000 Liter batches to generate basic data for the design and operation of the reactor. The University of Bonn investigated in detail the methane emission potential of alkalization.
