Project code: MRI-LBV-08-725-1030 CEPRI
Contract period: 01.06.2019 - 31.05.2020
Purpose of research: Applied research

Due to the steadily growing world population, sustainable protein sources will play an important role in securing nutrition in the future. Edible insects are such an alternative because they can be produced with less resources than e.g. pork or beef. The aim of Cepri is therefore to develope Germany's first smart and large-scaled insect farm to produce food resources from edible mealworms. By combining technological and biological optimizations, the growth of mealworms is made more efficient so that high quality resources from the insects can be sold to food producers B2B at competitive prices.
