Collaborative project: Securing synergies concerning data base and data management between the projects AWANTI and ARTEMIS and support of the practical evaluation of an enhanced scientific foundation for a risk-benefit-analysis of aerial insecticide application in forests (ARTEMIS)
Project
Project code: 2219NR396
Contract period: 01.01.2020
- 31.12.2022
Budget: 59,633 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: digitalization, silviculture, plant protection, insectizides, sustainability, renewalbe ressources
The project aims at improving the scientific basis for assessing risks and benefits of the application and non-application of plant protection products in forests with respect to the current framework and to contribute to a transparent and science-based risk and benefit assessment. A main focus is the aerial application of insecticides. As a project partner, the LFE is contributing essential data for the state of Brandenburg, a study region of great importance, considering the project aims. This part of the project will also profit from close cooperation with the ARTEMIS project, especially concerning the concurrent use of the long-term forest protection database, currently being updated by ARTEMIS. Additional synergy effects will arise due to the development of decision trees for the application or non-application of plant protection agents, based on flexible forest-function-dependent thresholds.
