Collaborative project: Fresh data: Optimised decision-making along the fruit, vegetable and fish supply chain through an open data and service framework, and including services to record and assess food quality and freshness - subproject C (FriDa)
Project
Project code: 281A505C19
Contract period: 01.11.2020
- 31.10.2023
Budget: 753,932 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: quality control, data management, product quality, consumer information, digital world, data collection, information-communicationtechnology
The limited shelf life of food also limits the optimization possibilities of food logistics and is the cause that misplanning in the area of production, ordering, and sales quantities planning not only leads to high storage costs, but also to food losses in a short time The "FriDa – Fresh Data" project creates an improved flow of information along the food supply chain, enabling better, data-based decisions for all participants. To this end, the Frida project is investigating the possibility of subning food-relevant data along the supply chain, using transport containers equipped with sensors and mobile food scanners. FriDa aims to research an open, decentralized data and service framework based on standardized interfaces and to set up and validate it as part of the practical tests. The open infrastructure will enable the secure connection of data sources (sensors / food scanners / logistics events), the exchange of data as well as the protected use of services and services via different company IT structures. On the basis of this platform, four application examples 1) freshness insurance during transport, 2) a dynamic quality and freshness index, 3) a sales recommendation for trading in the form of an optimal sales time and 4) a freshness and shelf life that can be used by consumers are implemen-ted prototypically. The demonstrators are coordinated and validated in cooperation with external partners from the food industry.
