Project code: TI-WO-08-WO-2021-2401
Contract period: 01.01.2021 - 31.10.2021
Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment

For many large-scale investigations (e.g. for estimating salinization potentials or site suitability), area-wide and high-resolution maps with information on soil pH are of great importance. Due to the collected inventory data of the soil condition surveys in the forest (BZE II-Forest) as well as in agriculture (BZE-LW), a comprehensive data set for soil pH values is available across all land uses, which is a good starting point for the preparation of the maps. For the mapping of salt-affected soils and the estimation of salinization potential (Omuto et al., 2020a, 2020b), the Global Soil Partnership (FAO, 2020) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) required grid maps of soil properties as a basis for calculation in 2020. The maps of soil pH produced for this purpose by the Thünen Institute were further developed and published in Thünen a la Carte 2021.
