Non-chemical management of pest rodents in carrot crops - Julius Kühn-Institut Bundesforschungsinstitut für Kulturpflanzen
Project
Project code: 2819OE179
Contract period: 01.11.2022
- 31.03.2026
Budget: 339,140 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: biological plant protection, vegetable production, integrated plant protection, sustainability, crop production, other root crops
The aims of the project are to develop and test non-chemical methods for minimising damage caused by rodents in carrot crops. New methods for plant protection in organic farming as well as for integrated cropping are to be developed. The focus is on the development and optimisation of low-risk plant protection methods, cultivation techniques and the transfer of knowledge into practice. The results will be used to validate non-chemical methods for the management of pests in carrot production and to provide cost-benefit estimates for these methods. Thus, an essential contribution to the implementation of integrated pest management in carrot cropping will be made.
