Project code: 2822OE027, JKI-RS-08-8046
Contract period: 01.09.2023 - 31.08.2028
Purpose of research: Applied research

In order to identify unknown resistances from genetic resources in addition to effective already known resistances, artificial inoculation will be performed under controlled conditions. Thus, after using isolates known to overcome known BT resistance, previously unused resistance can be identified in the present set of 450 genotypes. These results will be validated and statistically evaluated by field trials in which resistance to stone blight and dwarf stone blight will be multi-site and biennial bonitized. Based on the experimental results, a set of resistant genetic resources can be added to the differential assortment, based on which effective already known Bt resistances with up to five isolates have been demonstrated. Separate analysis of stone blight and dwarf stone blight resistance under controlled conditions will allow conclusions to be drawn about differences in host-parasite interaction and differentially resistant genetic resources and the differential assortment. Based on these data, a NAM population can be created and genotyped from the most divergent cultivars/genetic resources in terms of their stone blight/ dwarf stone blight. With the mapping of resistances based on the population, molecular markers for the detection of resistances are identified. From these, resistance-specific KASP markers can be derived to greatly accelerate the breeding of resistant varieties.
