Collaborative project: Constructing and Examining a Real Time Direct Nozzle Injection System for Agricultural Pesticide Application – Subproject 1

Project

Project code: 2815302007
Contract period: 08.05.2008 - 30.06.2011
Budget: 250,647 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development

A field sprayer was reconstructed to a prototype with a direct nozzle injection system for three different plant protection products (PPP) and tested at a test stand. When detection systems for weeds and diseases are ready for field application the technique for an independent online spraying of various active ingredients is necessary. As metering valves so-called RRV© (Rapid Reaction Valves) are used. These valves allow metering of the various PPP formulations. As target a maximum 10% deviation from the set point was defined. The pressure source for the PPP-piping system consists of three pressure tanks with fluid pressure controllers for differential pressure control between the piping system for carrier fluid and the three systems for plant protection products. Also the filling and reclaiming as well as the cleaning of the piping system were studied. The control system of the direct injection units was equipped with a closing function for water as carrier when no PPP are injected.
