Monitoring and development of avoidance and control strategies against the Asian Wood Borer Anoplophora glabripennis
Project
Project code: REFORDAT-78, AZ II-1-F 41-2010.07
Contract period: 01.05.2010
- 30.04.2011
Budget: 51,389 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
The detection of a potential development of the quarantene parasite Anoplo- phora glabripennis in the existing primary sources in the north of Bonn City will be assisted by the use of innovative methods to detect and to identify the derivation of this invasive parasite. This will be useful to identify the possible carry-over pathways and the dispersion pathways in more detail and to follow these conditions. Additonally investigations on the vegetational conditions in the particular re- gion will be evaluated to improve the surveying and mapping of potential re- gions for the spread of the parasite. By this endangered parts of the vegetation could be identified. In the following years these could by more thoroughly be observed. For the prevention and sustainment of endangered solitary trees and to inhibit the spread of the invasive species within endangered regions suitable methods to avoid the spread and to develop appropriate control measures will be adapted and optimized. Of high interest will be techniques to attract Anoplo- phora glabripennis for prognosis of potential endemic spreads as well as for the development of suitable 'attract & kill' techniques. For direct control of this particular invasive species environmentally and user-friendly techniques will be evaluated.
