Purpose of research: Basic research
Ralstonia solanacearum is a major pathogen in plants. We intend to clarify the code of TALE-like proteins from the bacterial pathogen R. solanacearum (RATs) by in planta expression of RAT genes and subsequent transcriptome analysis. The RAT-code will be used to engineer promoter traps that mediate recognition of and resistance to R. solanacearum. In addition, we will screen a collection of Arabidopsis ecotypes to identify resistance genes that mediate recognition of RAT proteins.
