Isolation and characterization of the origin of transfer (oriT) of the Yersinia virulence plasmid pYV

Purpose of research: Applied research
The Yersinia virulence plasmid pYV is mobilizable by helper plasmids and can therefore be transmitted into other bacteria which might result in the emergence of new pathotypes. In this project, the DNA region (oriT) of pYV essential for the mobilization of the plasmid shall be identified and characterized. Following this the virulence plasmids of all pathogenic Yersinia species (Y. enterocolitica, Y. pseudotuberculosis, Y pestis) will be analyzed in terms of oriT sequences.
