Collaborative project: Development of an autonomous plantation maintenance robot with electric drives taking special account of modern plant protection application in orchards and vineyards - subproject 2

Project

Project code: 2815401310
Contract period: 01.05.2012 - 31.10.2015
Budget: 372,762 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development

Based on the results of previous research, an electrically driven planting robot was developed, which is able to carry out various tasks in wine and fruit plants autonomously. Using the example of "modern plant protection" as a demanding application, the navigation in the tree row and the process control were tested and optimized. The use of leaf wall scanning for the injection molding and innovative blowers with a significantly reduced drive capacity further reduces the need for resources. Finally, the autonomous vehicle management system enables the automatic monitoring of all relevant machines and equipment, and ensures the traceability of food and beverage products required by trade and law. The vehicle presented here will occupy a niche with simple and robust components, which are also available in large numbers, which is predestined for automation because of its very structured working environment.
