Validation and identification of important marker trait associations for traits of agronomic importance towards the development of improved wheat varieties (VALID)
Project
Project code: JKI-RS-08-1133
Contract period: 01.09.2011
- 30.09.2014
Purpose of research: Applied research
Within the VALID consortium consisting of scientific institutions and private companies marker trait associations detected in wheat will be validated to make them applicable in wheat breeding. In a set of winter wheat cultivars association studies for yield, yield components, drought tolerance and pathogen resistance will be conducted. For validating these associations bi-parental populations will be generated and evaluated. Genotyping will the conducted using SSRs and genic SNPs. The project contributes to cope with future challenges in wheat production with respect to global warming and feeding the growing population.
