Budget: 165,604 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research

PsIGa is a webbased information system which provides consulting for customers of garden centers on the topic of plant protection. The core of the system is an online-accessible database, which comprises texts and photos of plant diseases and pests. Information supplied supports diagnoses and provides background on biology, preventive measures and pest control. Based on this pool of information focused, up to date consulting can be given to customers' inquiries on preventive and control measures. Part of the system is a so called case-database, designed to gather the feedback of amateur gardeners on recommended plant protection measures. Therefore the usage of the system will not only increase the amount of content in the system but will also add depth to the content. After the official funding period, the system is now operated by garden centers who initially participated in the project. Further stakeholders such as garden centers but also institutions in education and consulting may apply for access to the system.
