Collaborative Project: AUTES-Home - Automated shopping and design consultant for the Smart Home - Subproject 1

Project

Project code: 2816701210
Contract period: 01.07.2013 - 31.03.2016
Budget: 349,819 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research

The development and application of the proposed consumer advisory tools should greatly reduce the cost to the consumer in the selection of complex, technical products. A strong growth momentum for the market of smart homes and AAL should be triggered, which will help to solve social problems in the energy consumption and creates demographic change. Because of the computer-based consumer advisory functions the end users will be able to inform themselves about 'smart home' devices, look for them and to compare them adequately. Products from the 'smart home' domain, which have been sold almost exclusively in the wholesale or direct from the manufacturer, will take entry into the retail market and will be directly purchased by consumers. The computer-assisted analysis of interoperability promotes planning reliability. So new equipment can be combined with both existing as well as other devices for future expansion. Novel computer-based design consultancy functions will enable the fully automated design of optimized 'smart home' systems and their upgrades. As part of the project a database of products will be built and on that basis Consumer advisory tools will be developed. Furthermore existing automated design algorithms will be expanded in terms of use in the 'smart home' domain.
