Collaborative project: Reduction of emissions of poultry houses by combined outlet air purification - subproject 1 (ALR)
Project
Project code: 2817200313
Contract period: 01.10.2014
- 30.09.2017
Budget: 126,343 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development
Aim of the project was the development of a combined exhaust air treatment system for poultry housing consisting of a physical dust separation, a chemical wet scrubber for the removal of ammonia and a biological stage for the reduction of odour emissions. For dust and ammonia mitigation, process modules were already available that could be adapted for a combined system. A biological stage, which should significantly contribute to the reduction of odour, has not been developed in advance. Based on laboratory measurements, the function and effect of the developed technology were tested in practical investigations and the results were documented: The dry filter system is able to remove such a high amount of dust that the subsequent process stages can be used permanently without getting plugged by dust. Both in laying hens and in broiler husbandry, the requirements for a DLG certification for the cleaning performance of 70% for total dust and ammonia, as well as
