Development of a resistance screening method for sour and sweet cherry to Monilia laxa
Project
Project code: JKI-EP-08-2192
Contract period: 01.01.2004
- 31.12.2007
Purpose of research: Basic research
Development of the scientific and methodical basis of the selection of sour and sweet cherry genotypes with improved resistance to blight and fruit rot disease caused by Monilia laxa. Polyclonal antisera for detection of Monilia laxa were produced and tested in DTBIA and PTA-ELISA using twig samples of sour cherries attacked naturally and infected artificially, respectively. The pathogen detection succeeded in both cases with both methods. Whether these serological methods are suitable for assessment of resistance differences in the present pathosystem has to be cleared in further investigations.
