Field trails on interrelation between Beet Cyst Nematodes in Top-/ and Subsoil and yield performance of suagr beets
Project
Project code: JKI-A-08-1238
Contract period: 01.03.2013
- 31.12.2016
Purpose of research: Applied research
Damage prediction models in the pathosystem sugar beet/Beet Cyst Nematodes (BCN) consider yield relevant BCN population densities in the topsoil. Though below the crumb BCN can reach higher population densities then in the topsoil. To date knowledge on yield relevance of these populations restricts to result from experiments with pipes, which cannot be transferred to the infield situation. To detect population response of sugar beets catch crops with resistance and susceptibility against BCN will be grown prior to sugar beets. Population densities of BCN will be detected in soil samples from both soil depths and correlate to yield performance of a sensitive sugar beet in field trials. The project aims to develop a multidimensional damage prediction model for sugar beets.
