Purpose of research: Applied research

This project offers for the first time the possibility to demonstrate the decontamination of pig stables from la-MRSA to reduce energetic the existence, the expansion and further development of multiple resistant bacteria. To date, projects were focused on the status-quo-analysis of MRSA in animal housings and with this companies associated individuals. Until now there is neither a developed strategy to reduce actively MRSA nor it is scientifically proven. So the hazard of enhancement of multiple resistant bacteria by uncharged doses of applied antibiotics still exists. The single task of reduction of antibiotics is unsuitable to reduce the prevalence of existing multiple resistant bacteria. This finding is shown by the initialized tasks of antibiotics reduction in foreign European countries. Furthermore the elimination of these multiple resistant bacteria by use of still effective antibiotics indicates an inappropriate way. A promising potential to reduce multiple resistant bacteria is the elimination of these microbes. For MRSA this goal is feasible by decolonization therapies of humans, the treatment of the environment and the decolonization of MRSA-positive animals. Trials to decolonize MRSA-positive people who worked primary close to pigs were unsuccessful as these people are still colonized by the environment and MRSA-positive animals, respectively. From a scientific-strategic view two main steps are needed to prevent people working close to farm animals and consumers for the expansion and further development of MRSA: The first step should include a MRSA decontamination of the stables (incl. equipment) for the prevention of recolonization of MRSA-negative animals. This includes also the decolonization of MRSA-positive human carrier. After this the second step to decolonize MRSA-positive animal is reasonable and should be conducted. The main focus of this project is the implementation of the first step in animal housings to enhance the keeping of animals in an environmentally and regionally suitable way. Furthermore the ambition of this project is to establish a proceeding to decontaminate stables and equipment to prevent MRSA-negative people and animals for the colonization of MRSA.
