Re2alko - Optimization of the regional production of bioalcohol from biogenic residues, Subproject A
Project
Project code: 03KB025A
Contract period: 01.08.2009
- 31.12.2012
Budget: 164,900 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
The goal of the project is the optimization of processes to develop and use biogenic residues for the production of innovative biofuels of the second generation with high climate protection potential. An applicable concept will be developed for the gradual shift to decentralized bioethanol plants in plants for the fermentation of regional residues and waste from agricultural plants as well as for the scientific-technical conditions this will required. In addiction to the production of lignocellulose-ethanol, the production of biobutanol is also considered. For energy optimization the stillage should be fermented in a biogas plant. A subsequent pilot phase is planned for the implement action of the concepts developed in an existing decentralized coupled bioethanol / biogas plant.
The project partner University of Applied Sciences Münster / Prof. Wetter is primarily involved in energetic and material optimization of the distillery. In particular, the supply of renewable energy for the distillery process is an essential part of the examinations.
