Purpose of research: Experimental development
Goal of the project is the development of a demonstrator of an information system for process control and analysis in crop production. The system consists of a data management system and the integrated possibilities to acquire, store, process and analyse data from various sources during the crop production process. The system uses two digital cameras, which are mounted on a ground based vehicle (e.g. tractor or trailer) and on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) generating geo-referenced rgb-images of the crop stands from different heights. Newly developed algorithms will derive geometric and radiometric crop parameters with a high spatial and temporal resolution characterising the vegetative status of the crop. At the same time weather stations automatically collect the relevant meteorological data from atmosphere and soil. In combination with data about site specific ecological conditions, crop management activities and finally the harvesting results information about site potential, limiting weather conditions and the crop status is generated. Handled in a web based system and custom-visualized for the specified user control and analysis of the site specific crop production process will be enabled.
