Biology, damage potential and host spectrum of Paratylenchus bukowinensis
Project
Project code: JKI-EP-08-2296
Contract period: 01.01.2015
- 31.12.2018
Purpose of research: Applied research
The ectoparasitic nematode Paratylenchus bukowinensis is increasingly reported in connection with economic damage on various vegetable crops. Compared to other plant-parasitic nematodes in vegetables the genus Paratylenchus is comparatively little studied. Knowledge of host plant range, population dynamics and damage potential of P. bukowinensis are almost non-existent. Therefore, the objectives of this study are to identify the host plant range, characterize the damage potential and describe the population dynamics of this nematode. The knowledge gained will allow a better diagnosis of this nematode in praxis. Furthermore, the damage potential can be better predicted and control measures based on crop rotation recommended to control P. bukowinensis.
