Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
The 'National Dialogue Forum of the Wholesale and Retail Trade for the Reduction of Food Waste' aims at the systematic avoidance of food waste in wholesale and retail trade in Germany. In line with the National Strategy for Reducing Food Waste, the aim is to operationalise SDG 12.3 for the retail sector. Together with the participants to the dialogue, concrete measures to reduce food waste in the retail sector and at the interfaces to other sectors will be developed and implemented, taking into account priority areas and potentials as well as best practices from Germany and abroad. A central role will also be played by continuously improving the data situation and supplementing existing data sources in order to map food waste reduction in wholesale and retail trade. Supported by an intensive exchange of information and experience, industry-specific targets are to be developed and adopted together with the key players.
