In the EU, the aim is to improve animal welfare standards, which means that livestock farms are obliged to carry out their own checks. The 'Animal Welfare Tool Dairy Cattle' has already been developed to facilitate this task. This Excel application is to be tested on 40 dairy farms in Hesse. To record and evaluate the animal welfare situation of the farms. In addition, the tool is to be tested for its practical suitability and developed into a freely available consulting tool. This should enable the uniform control of animal welfare indicators.
