Project code: Vergabe-Nr. 07/035.1
Contract period: 01.04.2007 - 31.03.2008
Budget: 32,658 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research

The project running since 1st of April 2004 contributes to the clarification of the prevalence and the pathogenesis of Chlamydia-associated diseases in dairy cows. As explained in the proposal from 2005, the importance of bovine Chlamydia-associated diseases increased during the past years. Chlamydia are found in relation with various complexes of disease, in particular with distrurbed fertility. In addition, the zoonotic potential of bovine Chlamydiosis is nor sufficiently clarified. Subdividing the project into two parts, i.e. into sample collection and analyses as phase I and the development of a monitoring system in phase II, is the result of considering the current situation and the aims together with the partners involved. The second phase is subject of the actual renewal of the project. It comprises the detailed analysis of the data from about 15 farms for the determination of relationships between the chlamydophila results and the dairy and veterinary records, and the individual farming conditions applied.
