Dietary exposures to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and DNA damage
Project
Project code: 505609
Contract period: 01.02.2004
- 30.09.2007
Budget: 1,460,000 Euro
Purpose of research: Basic research
DNA damages that are not repaired during cell proliferation represent initiating events that may result in neoclassic. Exposure from polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (Paths) from some foods is sufficiently high to permit direct studies of such DNA lesions in humans. This potential health hazard - its modulation by genetic factors, synergists and protective substances - constitutes the main focus for this proposal.
