Climate change

Project code: vTI-AB-08-52
Contract period: 01.01.2001 - 31.12.2015
Purpose of research: Applied research

With the help of so-called emission factors, as they are mentioned in the administrative regulation of the Technical Instructions on Air Quality (TA Luft) not only different production processes of animal husbandry can be compared with each other but also be used as starting parameters of national models of air pollution prevention. Measurements of emission require a very critical discussion concerning their obtained quality, before such results can be postulated as universally binding. All measurements in animal husbandry depend on meteorological parameters, for naturally ventilated stables stronger than for the mechanically ventilated ones. That means that with the measurement in a stable the frequency of the special meteorological situation must be taken into consideration. In order to use the emission of a stable as environment indicator a transfer function must be determined for the stable under investigation. This function is independent of site. The local emissions are calculated by linking the transfer function to the local meteorology. The agricultural emission factors used today need a thorough examination.
