SFB 670 TP18: Intracellular perception of fungal effectors and initiation of signalling by allelic NB-LRR receptors
Project
Project code: DFG SFB 670
Contract period: 01.01.2006
- 31.12.2010
Purpose of research: Basic research
In plants, innate immune responses are triggered by a repertoire of membrane-anchored and intracellular receptors. The predominant type of receptors mediating strain-specific immunity to pathogen- derived effectors resides inside plant cells. We aim to unravel the molecular mechanisms underlying the recognition of isolate-specific fungal effectors and initiation of resistance signalling by allelic CC-NB-LRR type MLA receptors. We identified candidate MLA interactors that are indicative of a novel negative regulatory link between MLA-dependent strain-specific and PAMPtriggered basal immunity. We wish to explore this link using integrated biochemical, quantitative non-invasive imaging, as well as functional reconstitution experiments.
