Collaborative project: Electronic towing bar for agricultural machines with surroundings sensor system and adoption of geo-referenced information – Subproject 1

Project

Project code: 2815306607
Contract period: 01.03.2011 - 31.07.2014
Budget: 374,731 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development

The objective of this project is a further development of the electronic tow-bar system for agricultural machines by the same research consortium, so that the safety and automation level of the existing system will be enhanced with respect to driverless farming. Risks, which are disclosed in the existing experimental vehicles, will be reduced considerably with the aid of perception sensors and geo-referenced information about the environment. With this further development of the tow-bar system for agricultural machines, the system will meet the corresponding demands of functional safety regulations of legislation. The state of the art of perception sensors and geographical information available for agricultural applications will at first be investigated. Simultaneously, a risk analysis of the existing system will be performed according to the corresponding regulations of legislation. With the results of the risk analysis, the requirements for the further development of the tow-bar system will be specified. According to the requirements specification and the investigations about perception sensors and geo-referenced information, the design methods will be developed, evaluated and with the aid of simulation verified in a preliminary way. Afterwards, subsystems and components will be integrated within the existing system and be verified with regard to the system requirements.
