Wildlife assessment (WILD), management of red and roar deer regarding spatial and temporal issues, and regional hunting concepts for wild boar populations
Project
Project code: TI-WO-08-PID1521
Contract period: 01.10.2013
- 31.10.2016
Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
The target-oriented management of wildlife requires knowledge about the extent of the wildlife populations, about the migration behaviour of the animals as well as about their habitat use. The project comprises three researc tasks carried out on the area of the German federal state Thuringia: wildlife assessment (WILD), management of red and roe deer regarding spatial and temporal issues, as well as hunting concepts for wild boar populations. For the wildlife assessment a mapping of the occurance of selected wildlife species is carried out. The migration behaviour is studied using satellite telemetry, and regional hunting concepts for wild boar populations are tested in two exemplary regions.
