Atmospheric nitrogen dynamics in Hesse

Project

Climate change

This project contributes to the research aim 'Climate Change'. What are the sub-aims? Take a look:
Climate change

Project code: vTI-AK-08-38
Contract period: 01.01.2004 - 31.12.2007
Purpose of research: Applied research

Ammonia is a hughly reactive atmospheric trace gas. In contrast to other gases, its fate in the atmosphere is governed by numerous sources close to the ground, a quite complicated atmospheric chemistry and the sink properties of natural and near natrual ecosystems in particular. The project aims at a comprehensive description of all relevant sources and sinks of reduced atmospheric nitrogen by modelling (sources) and measurements (concentrations, depositions). The project integrates the three subprojects 'assessment of ammonia concentrations' (FAL-AOE-02-13), 'assessment of the concentrations of reactive N- and S-species' (FAL-AOE-02-27) and 'bulk-depositionen of reactiver N-species' (FAL-AOE-02-28).
