Differentiation of herring, cod and flounder populations from different fishing grounds of the Baltic Sea and the North Atlantic by DNA-analysis
Project
Project code: BfR-LMS-02-1329-044
Contract period: 01.08.2007
- 31.12.2007
Purpose of research: Basic research
PCR-based methods are developed to identify fish and fishery products coming from those fishing areas possibly contaminated by dioxin. Samples of muscle and liver of cod (Gadus morhua) and herring (Clupea harengus), and muscle of flounder (Platichthys flesus), are collected from different fishing grounds of the Baltic Sea, and of the North Sea and the North Atlantic for comparison. Samples are analysed by microsatellite-PCR and other PCR-based methods.
