Characterization of predatory bacteria from the gastrointestinal tract of domestic animals
Project
Project code: BfR-BIOS-08-1322-326
Contract period: 01.04.2008
- 31.12.2008
Purpose of research: Applied research
Predatory bacteria invade and kill a number of gram negative pathogenic bacteria. They can be found in the intestinal gut of domestic animals. We want to characterize previously isolated predatory strains from different animals by molecular techniques and prey spectrum analysis and isolate new predatory strains from animals. The aim of the project is to clarify the role of these bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract and to exploit their potential to combat pathogenic bacteria in the gut.
